  • Wrap up 2016, get ready for 2017

Your benefits for next year are set. Get the most value from them by crossing these last few items off your list:

    • Earn Healthy Rewards for 2017.You still have time to get a discount on your 2017 medical plan contribution rate: $250 if you participate or $500 if your spouse/domestic partner also participates. The deadline has been extended to December 31, so don’t miss your opportunity to save. Simply complete your Health Review on HealthLink, and that’s it! Your spouse or domestic partner should complete the Health Review through his or her own HealthLink account. To confirm the status of your Healthy Rewards, click here.
    • New insurance carrier means new ID card. As you learned during Open Enrollment, medical insurance carriers will be determined on a state by-state basis in 2017 in an effort to provide the most affordable coverage and highest-quality networks available in each state. Click here to see which insurance carrier you will have next year. If your insurance carrier is different in 2017, or if you elected a new medical plan, a new medical ID card will be mailed to your home by January. If your carrier didn’t change and you did not make changes to your medical plan for 2017, you should continue to use your current ID card.
    • Find out the cost of medical services (and do a lot more) with easy-to-use tools. Your insurance carrier has tools to help you estimate the cost of a procedure before you go to the doctor, search for doctors and facilities in your network, track your medical claims, see your electronic ID card, and more. Check out Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Find a Doctor & Estimate Costs tool on bluecrossma.com/findadoctor. Select PPO or EPO from the “My Health Plan” menu. UnitedHealthcare members can download the Health4Me app, or use the Find-and-Price Care tool on myuhc.com Select “UnitedHealthcare Choice” for the EPO or “UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus” from the menu list.
    • Get free confidential counseling when you need it. If you need help managing your day-to-day life and issues at work or at home, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers up to five confidential in-person or telephonic sessions with a counselor through OptumHealth. The EAP also offers legal assistance, financial services, childcare and eldercare referrals, and more. Call OptumHealth at 1-866-808-5062 or visit liveandworkwell.com (enter “emc” for access and choose “Find a Clinician” to contact a counselor directly).
    • Medical Plan with HSA members: Prepare for the 2017 deductible. If you’ve already met your deductible for the year, you may want to take care of necessary healthcare services now. You could pay a lot less out-of-pocket if you get the care you need before January 1, when the deductible starts over.
    • Spend your 2016 FSA by March 15, 2017. Your unused FSA funds don’t remain in your account forever, so remember that you must spend your 2016 FSA balance by March 15 of next year, or you’ll lose it.
