    $300 Fitness Reimbursement

    Each year, participants in the Blue Cross Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare plans can receive up to $300 per family in fitness reimbursement. The plans administer these reimbursements through their claims processes. Eligible expenses include participation for at least four consecutive months in:

    • Full-service health/fitness clubs with cardio and strength-training equipment;
    • Martial arts classes;
    • Fitness classes including, but not limited to, spinning, Pilates, yoga, and aerobics;
    • Weight management program fees including, but not limited to, Weight Watchers, DASH for Health, hospital based weight loss programs or Beachbody At Home Fitness programs
    • Personal training (must be with a certified personal trainer).

    Submit all claims using the EMC Fitness Reimbursement Form on or before March 31 of the following year. Contact your plan’s member services for more information

    Please note that the fitness benefit reimbursement is considered taxable income.  Under IRS regulations this type of reimbursement provided by an employer is considered taxable income. These earnings are subject to Federal Income Tax withholding, FICA tax withholding, and in many cases State and Local Supplemental tax withholding. You will see the value of the fitness benefit reimbursement in the Earnings section of your paycheck as Award.

    Individual Services

    Complimentary one-on-one services are available at most locations to help you reach your program goals:

    • Fitness Assessment. Staff will conduct a thirty-minute assessment to determine your resting heart rate, aerobic capacity, resting blood pressure, muscular endurance, body composition, and flexibility.

      This process will help you effectively and accurately measure your progress and improvement. (For best results, we recommend participating in a fitness assessment every 6-12 months.)

      You’ll receive a confidential computerized report of your results. The fitness center staff will review it with you to establish exercise, fitness, and weight management goals. This service includes height, weight, body fat %, waist-to-hip ratio calculation, and blood pressure to gauge your health risk level.

    • Tailored Workout (Program Review). Get a workout plan that addresses your specific needs and goals, with instructions on how to warm up, stretch, cool down, and properly utilize the cardiovascular and weight training equipment for maximum results.

    • Personal Training (One-on-One motivation). Maximize your workouts to get the best results with the help of one of our trained, degreed, and certified staff members.
