  • Parental Leave

    At EMC we realize the importance of balancing your work with your personal life. EMC is excited to offer leave policies to support employees in balancing work with starting or growing a family. 

    If you are a regular employee in the U.S., who has been employed for a minimum of 12 months at the time of the birth or adoption placement, you may be eligible for paid Parental Leave. 

    If you work part time (less than 40 hours per week), your paid leave time is prorated, based on the number of hours you are scheduled to work per week.

    Taking Your Parental Leave

    You must submit a Leave of Absence Form, specifying the dates of your intended leave. This form must be submitted to Corporate Benefits at least 4 weeks in advance of the intended leave unless there are unforeseen circumstances.

    Parental Leave runs concurrently with, and is credited towards an employee’s FMLA leave entitlement. Employees need to call Cigna for FMLA tracking. Cigna’s phone number is 855-212-1028.

    You will continue to receive your regular base pay during the 4 weeks of Parental Leave.

    In the event of a birth of a child, mothers may also be eligible for benefits under EMC’s Short-Term Disability policy. Parental Leave under this policy does not run concurrently with STD benefits. Rather, eligible employees may use Parental Leave after the disability period ends (but within 12-months following the birth of a child). More information is available here.
