    The plan pays 100% of your weekly benefits salary. Benefits begin after a seven-day “elimination” period; during this time, the plan does not pay an STD benefit. You have the option of using personal/sick time, vacation time, and/or unpaid time during the elimination period.

    The plan pays benefits until the end of your disability, or up to a maximum of 12 weeks, whichever comes first. The maximum weekly benefit is $1,250. Buy-up coverage is available; see below.

    STD Buy-Up Option

    If you earn more than $65,000 annually, you exceed the $1,250 weekly STD cap. In that case, EMC automatically enrolls you in STD Buy-Up, which increases your maximum weekly benefit up to an additional $2,250 of coverage per week (for a combined total of up to $3,500 per week). Weekly coverage cannot exceed 100% of your benefits salary.
